YOUTH GROUP
At First United Methodist Church believe that the support of and participation in Youth Group
is a necessary and significant part of our church life. The purpose of Youth
Group is to bring our young people together in a life of faith. action, and
community, and to address the spiritual, emotional, and social needs that are
unique to youth.
To attain this the church seeks to provide a nurturing
environment and to develop a network of Christian relationships, and provide
opportunities to serve God through mission work and service projects in order
to better understand our role as disciples of Jesus Christ. Through worship and
discussion we will explore our faith and equip our youth with the tools and
support needed to flourish as Christians

What’s in the name?
At First UMC we tend to have a lot
of names for all the different the cool things we do. With that in mind we have
listed them below.
YOUTH GROUP
The United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF)is offered as a place where youth can
get to know God and each other better. We strive for a balance between worship,
education, recreation and service in our programs. The group is open to any and
all 7th-12th graders. Youth Group consists of time for study, service and fellowship.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Students meet by grade in the Youth & Worship Center. Each Sunday Biblically
grounded lessons relevant to student’s lives are shared.
WAKEY WAKEY
Students meet each week when school is in session to enjoy great fellowship and great
food at Chick-Fil-A. 7th & 8th grade meets Wednesday morning at 7:00 am
High School meets Thursday morning at 7:00 am. Students needing rides are
shuttled on the church bus to school. Students that need a ride to school
are shuttled on the church bus
Deep F.R.Y.
Deep Films Reaching Youth is a weekly movie night/outreach Bible study for students
to learn and apply God’s Word to “real life” situations. 6-12 grade.
Every Sunday 6:30pm to 8:30pm. FUMC Lufkin Youth and Worship Building. Bring $3
for pizza and soda, a pillow, you & a friend.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF STUDENTS
If you love God and care about kids, we would love you to be a part of our youth
ministry team. If you have 5 hours a week, or 5 hours a year, we have a way for
you to help make a difference.
