MISSION STATEMENT

The Worship Arts Ministry is an exciting ministry that offers opportunities of service through musical arts for all ages. This ministry is about proclaiming God’s word and enhancing spirituality through excellent, diverse, and inspiring music and arts. We invite you to share and explore this ministry. Come and volunteer your time building God’s kingdom here on earth.

Musical Resources

Our musical resources are a testament to the importance of the Worship Arts Ministry in the life of our church. Our sanctuary has a three manual Casavant Organ, Opus 2741 with 42 stops, 46 ranks, and a drawknob console. Henderson Chapel is equipped with an Austin Pipe Electone Organ. Additionally, this ministry has five octaves of Schumerich hand bells and four and half octaves of Suzuki hand chimes. There are several Orff instruments and xylopipes for the children. We have also added original Jamaican steel drums to be used in our program. The Chancel Choir provides a one-time scholarship for students going to college who have been actively involved in the Worship Arts Program.

Chancel Choir

Having served faithfully for generations, the Chancel Choir sings throughout the year with the exception of the month of July. The choir explores challenging sacred literature representing a wide range of anthems, spirituals, gospels and standard liturgical music and modern choral anthems. They also enjoy a wonderful sense of camaraderie and occasionally takes weekend retreats and trips. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 - 8:15 PM in the Choir Room.

Solid Rock Ringers

This group rings handchimes and is for third through fifth graders. Hand chimes are used as training tool for ringing hand bells. Ringers have fun learning how to read music and also learn the techniques of ringing. Ringers occasionally play in our traditional and contemporary worship services. They meet on Sundays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM in the Youth and Worship Building.

Festive Ringers

This is a beginner level handbell group for anyone interested in learning to ring hand bells. Beginners learn basic ringing and damping skills and techniques. Ringers will also study the essential skills needed for beginning ringers and exercises followed by a musical piece that uses that particular set skill. They meet on Sundays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM in the Handbell Room.

Amazing Grace Ringers

This is the intermediate level handbell group. Ringers continue to perfect the art of ringing through techniques and exercises. They also learn the skill and coordination from each individual ringer as well as team work. Their repertoire includes classical, anthems, spirituals, traditional hymns, and contemporary Christian music. They occasionally play in our traditional and contemporary worship services. Rehearsals are on Mondays from 5:30 - 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

Voices in Bronze

This is our advanced hand bell group.  With five and one- half octaves of hand bells and four and one-half half octaves of hand chimes, this group coordinates tremendously and collaborates fiercely to create the smoothest and most expressive musical experience possible. They occasionally play in our traditional and contemporary worship services. This group also give concerts. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 5:30 - 6:30 PM in the Sanctuary.

Bells Gone Steel

This is an exciting addition to our ministry for our sixth through twelfth graders. This group loves the special challenges and joys of handbells and steel drums. They learn intermediate handbell pieces of various styles and music written for steel drums. They also play arrangements for steel drums and handbells. They occasionally play in our traditional and contemporary worship services. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 4:30 - 5:30 PM in the Handbell Room.

Youth Band

Made up of high school students, this group have a passion to see young people worship with heart and gratitude. They play a mixture of old and new songs which are important connection between the generations within the church. For them, it is all about God and helping worshippers encounter God. They occasionally play in the contemporary service. They rehearse in the Youth and Worship Building on Sundays from 4 - 5 PM and Wednesdays from 5 - 6 PM.

Worship Band

The Worship Band lead worship during the contemporary worship service. Members share their musical gifts to gain spiritual growth and experience fellowship. They play a wide range of contemporary Christian music. They rehearse in the Youth and Worship Building on Wednesdays from 8 - 9 PM and Sundays at 8:30 AM

In His Steps

Made up of high school students, this group choreograph praise, celebration, and worship in dance. These dances are ministered as an outpouring and intimate relationship with the Lord. They occasionally participate in both traditional and contemporary worship services. Their goal is showing the gospel coming to life in their limbs. They rehearse on Sundays in the Youth and Worship Building on Sundays from 4 - 5 PM.

Friends of Lydia

This is a group of talented men and women who have come together to create magical moments with altar designs. This team finds new ways to transform the worship space. They also help in decorating our worship spaces during the season of Christmas, Lent, and Easter. Through powerful imagery, worshippers have the opportunity to experience the theme of preaching and music reinforced.  This team understands that it is at the altars where our lives are altered. Meetings are scheduled as needed.

Tech Team

This team is made up of dedicated men and women who use technology as a tool that allows them to create an atmosphere in which worshippers can worship and experience God. They help with the smooth operation of light, sound and video during worship.

Acolyte and Crucifer Training program                              

This program is a step toward discipleship for children. This six-week program is for fourth through six graders. Children learn more about liturgical calendar and colors, the importance of worship and church signs and symbols. Fourth and fifth graders serve as acolytes and sixth graders serve as crucifers. Training is in the Fall.

 School of Fine Arts Ministry

This is a mission driven ministry designed to provide instruction in music and fine arts. Private lessons are available for piano, organ, voice and guitar.

Camp Create

This is a one week exploration camp during the summer for kindergarten through eighth grade. Children learn music, art, and drama around a musical. On the last day of camp, they perform the musical for the general public.

Concert Series

The Worship Arts Ministry presents a variety of outstanding concerts throughout the year. These concerts feature both local and out of state artists. All concerts are presented to the public at no charge. Donations and love offerings are accepted to support our guest artists.
