Student Ministry

At First United Methodist Church, we believe that middle and high school students are a vital part of our congregation.  Our Student Ministry strives to be an invitational and welcoming place for students of all backgrounds where they can find community and a place to belong.  We want to meet students wherever they are in their faith journey, walk alongside them as they grow, and be a safe place where they can ask questions and learn to seek faithful answers. By providing worship, discipleship, and mission opportunities, we aim to help students become mature Christians who transform the world by Loving God and Loving Neighbor.

Weekly Activities

Sunday School-Sunday Mornings
Upstairs in the Youth and Worship Center

We have four classes:

  • 6th grade
  • 8th grade
  • 9th and 10th grade
  • 11th and 12th grade

Our Sunday school classes use Orange curriculum for both middle school and high school. The curriculum helps students experience three things:  wonder for who God is, discovery of who He created them to be, and passion for loving others.  At First United Methodist Church, we want to partner with families and we know that faith conversations can sometimes be difficult to begin. So for each Sunday School series our parents are given talking points to help them start conversations with students at home about faith and life as a teenager.

Confirmation-Sunday Mornings
9:50-10:50 AM
Upstairs in the Youth and Worship Center (7th grade and up)

The First United Methodist Church Confirmation class is eight months full of interactive learning where students are invited to take the next steps on their faith journey.  The class focuses on learning the Biblical Narrative, Wesleyan theology as it relates to big ideas like Grace, the Trinity, the Church, Baptism, and Communion, and understanding what it means to claim your faith as your own.

Sunday Night Bible Study

Upstairs in the Youth and Worship Center

Middle school and high school students are invited to join us each week as we spend time in community reading and discussing the Bible.  For current studies, contact Lisa Gill, Director of Student Ministries, at
